The Märthof is as central as Basel gets: from the entrance you are on Marktplatz in a minute, in front of the red facade of the town hall. The four-star hotel has 68 rooms and junior suites, each furnished differently.
Rooms and facilities
The interiors mix neo-baroque elements, functional 1930s design and touches of the 1980s with natural materials. Facilities include a wellness area with sauna and steam room, a gym and a complimentary minibar.
The house has the Bohemia restaurant and bar and the Boulevard terrace. From the roof terrace you look out over Marktplatz.
Location and walking times
The Mittlere Brücke is three minutes away, Barfüsserplatz six. You reach Messeplatz in 14 minutes on foot across the Rhine, and Basel SBB station in 18 minutes or by tram from Marktplatz.
Our advice
The rooms facing Marktplatz have the finest view, but also the trams and the bustle of the square. Light sleepers should ask for the quieter side.
